Are Banks Open On St. Patrick’s Day 2022?
March 14, 2022
St. Patrick’s Day is circled on the calendar for many Texans. This year, your day to wear green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day is on Thursday, March 17.
This special day often leads to customers asking, “Are banks open on St. Patrick’s Day?” The answer is that, yes, we will be open!
While St. Patrick’s Day is recognized all over the U.S. each year, it is not a federal holiday. Therefore, banks such as Texas Gulf Bank remain open for business. You can stop by one of our bank locations during normal business hours to take care of your banking needs.
In honor of this yearly cultural and religious celebration, we want to recognize some of the best St. Patrick’s Day traditions that happen in Texas each year.
Annual Texas Traditions on St. Patrick’s Day
– Check out Shamrock, Texas. The shamrock is synonymous with Ireland, where Saint Patrick was the primary patron saint of the country. Naturally, the city of Shamrock up in the Texas Panhandle holds an annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. The city’s 75th annual event is set for March 17-20, 2022.
– Visit Houston’s St. Patrick’s Parade. Closer to home, the Houston St. Patrick’s Parade Commission puts on an annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown Houston. The 61st annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place this past weekend on Saturday, March 12.
The parade is one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. Typically, there are 100+ parade entries. The commission also puts together an Irish Stew Cook-off and Music Festival each year. Find out how you can get involved in next year’s event!
– Celebrate in Freeport. Along the Texas Gulf Coast, you can visit Freeport for a St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The 36th annual Surfside Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade also took place this past Saturday, March 12.
Find out more about how you can participate in next year’s event organized by the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Organization of Surfside Beach.
– Float the River Walk. Over in Central Texas, the famous River Walk in San Antonio turns green for St. Patrick’s Day. Presented by Visit San Antonio River Walk and the Harp & Shamrock Society of Texas, the annual St. Patrick’s Day River Parade includes a procession of Irish-themed decorated floats, Irish entertainment, and bagpipers.
You can make plans to visit San Antonio for a full weekend of events that includes St. Patrick’s River Dying, a St. Patrick’s Festival, and the actual parade on March 17-19.
